I need to reverse the rims to get clearance so I can install tire chains.Got the rim off ok but couldn't remove the plate thing connected to the axle holding the rim.Seems to need a wheel puller,no problem, but how does it go back on? HELP

Would it help to just switch sides? Put right tire on left side and left tire on right side to get a little more fender clearance?

Thanks Geo,doesn't look like that would work. The
rim is made of two pieces,a concave plate that slips over the hub[veerry tight fit] and is bolted. The rim itself bolts to this plate. If I could reverse this plate,I'd have the clearance.
After unbolting the plate I couldn't get the thing off the hub, even with "gentle" coaxing from a heavy hammer.Might do it with a puller, but I'm afraid I won't be able to get it back on.

If it's all clean and straight the inner disc is supposed to swap sides like Geo says. You might need to clean the axle and wheel with a wire wheel. The disc turns around on either side and the outter bolts come out so you can swich which side the wheels mount to. I would'nt beat the disc apart tho, it would be heck to find them to replace.

there are two bolts that squeeze this hub to the axle, the hub might need to come off and be cleaned of rust and dabree and put back on.
my plates flip, i got plenty of cleance for chains.
but i keep the chains on my dual tire, i just change the the tires, 4 bolts and the chains are on,20 minuts, done.
