How do you get the starter off of a 460 Long?

I would think if it would turn over with a screwdriver then the problem lies elsewhere?

If I understand it, the 460 is the 4 cylinder version of the 3-cyl 445? (Which I have)

On the 445 there are the usual 3 bolts - the back lower one is awkward to get at unless you have a 17mm obstruction spanner(wrench in American!).

Some original fitted starters on the 445 may not clear the rear hydraulic pump (power steering I think), so may need the pump removing to gain clearance (mine was OK). I wouldn't have thought there'd be a problem with a 4-cyl block.

The 460 is a newer version of the 445. It has all the same mechanical specifications. It is distinguished by squared-off sheet metal, and headlights in the grille.

Removing the starter sometimes requires removing the power steering pump.
