It sounds like your Dad is using it as it was intended, small acre farming/utility work. The sales brochure shows that level of work along with mowing. As to the parts, check on some of the prices the US scrappers want, terrible to be so scarce. Some of my UK friends find me bits now and then but it is pricy. Thankfully the engine is MGA and can take parts from that source.

Fred, Good points...small, versatle. Bad points...very hard to find parts, very pricy parts. Everything either is from the UK, check the current exchange rate, or from the rare US scrap yard that has some parts. They are proud of the parts. I am finishing a BMC version now. Give a yell if questions.

Please excuse me for butting in, but I am in dire need of information on the steering gear box of a BMC 4/25 tractor. Your post is the first one I have seen, and I have been on here a good long time. I would like to know if I can take the gearbox apart and maybe replace, or adjust something inside so as to eliminate the excessive slop in the steering. I have had the outside adjustments all over the place and no help. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

You are not butting in, I figure we are all in this to learn and help. Yes, you can take the box apart and there are adjustments to be made. There is an adjuster on both the left and right, a slotted one with a jam nut. Adjust the drop arm free play to .030 inch. I have found the main issue to be water getting into the box thru the top seal under the steering wheel then rusting the bearings. Those are a pain and must come from the UK. Check the oil level and if water is in there...
