I just received a new starter solenoid, P/N TX12072. It is somewhat different from the original but looks like it will work if I can get it installed. The end part that engages with the starter fork is plastic and held on with a screw. It looks like the plastic part should come off, go over the fork end and then reassemble with the end screw. But, that all must take place INSIDE the motor/solenoid casing. How in the world do I do that? This is the Universal 2130 motor. 1.Does the motor have to be disassembled to mate the fork with the solenoid? 2.Can the motor be removed from the tractor without removing the power steering pump?

I have an UTB 445 which sold as a Long or an AC 4050 in USA. I think some starters do fouls the pump, but you may be lucky. Mine was OK, it came off with no problems apart from the (loader brackets in the way!) The starter on mine was a Lucas M45G so I doubt if it was the original

Thanks for the input. I removed the fuel pump, steering pump, then starter motor. I'm awaiting a new starter motor.
