I hope someone can confirm my fear and offer some advice. Yesterday I had been bush hogging for about 3 hrs when all hell broke loose. My first thought was that I had hit something or busted a U-joint on the PTO shaft. The tractor stopped and the engine was bogging down. I got it out of gear checked out the bush hog and all looked fine, even started it up with the tractor out of gear. Put the tractor in gear and as the cluch started to engage bogged down and the differental lock started to click really loud. So I hooked the truck to it to pull it to the shop and could not move it. That is when I found the rear tires were locked up. The tractor goes into and out of gear just fine, just can't engage them. I think the rear end has droped a gear or something. Any ideas. Can you get to the gears just by pulling the final drives? Thanks for the input.

Hey Mitch, I just remembered this. Look at your hydraulic filter lovated in the line near under the starter. If it is full of brass shavings or filings, your problem is as I described. I think the fix requires a shaft, 2 brass gears, some sort of locking pins, and maybe bearings. Can't remember for sure. I think you have to remove the whole back plate, not the small flat one.

I do not the technical terms for the parts in question, but I believe your problem is in the mechanisms that engage the positive lock rear axle function. This happened to a friend's 360 years ago. I believe you can go through the flat plate on the rear of the tractoe to get to the area that needs repair. I can put you in touch with a good fellow that can possible help you more.
