Buzz, I am going to make a guess about your tractor, and I think I am very close.I have a model 340 (3 wheeler) built in either 1940 or 1941. It has a continental engine, but the grill, dash and hood are almost the same as yours.

Your tractor has a Hercules engine. I am guessing it was one of the last Silver King with that engine. The starter , grill, and wheels are what I am basing my decision on. I will also guess the model number to be a 440. I would say your tractor was built in 1939, but more likely 1940. If I knew your serial number, I could see how close to mine it is.

As I said, this is a guess on my part.

Your tractor has a herkules IXK engine. I have seen one in a silverking before. The IXK was used in cletrac dozers. I haven't seen any papers or data showing this engine came in a silverking from the factory, but it would have been very easy to do when new or as a replacement. I agree the grill, hood rear and other parts would make the date made as late 1939 or 40. There are casting marks on the engine block below the mag and above the oil pan. They will tell the engine and when the block was cast. The tractor model should be a R44.

Wheres your picture? There were 3 differant grills and differant engines. I have seen 3 silverkings with replacement engines from a differant maker. There were a number of differant changes made over the years so with good pictures we can get close on the year and model.
