Can anyone tell me where the shift is on a long 445 6 speed to move the gearbox between the top and bottom 3 speeds?

The high and low range are all on the same stick. It is like 2 figure H's, one above the other. You move the stick up and down to the center to get to low(top) range and high(range) bottom. A suggestion that I have for any new operator of this generation of Longs is this. When you shift to any gear, push the stick as far to the left or right as it will move when you chose the gear that you want. When shifting out of said gear, you have to move stick either left or right, the same direction you moved it when you put it in gear, to get it out of gear easily. They shift easy, you just have to learn how to do it.

The one I'm looking at is my neighbor's (no internet). The gear shift takes, as best as I can do it, four positions arranged in a square pattern. Top left is reverse, bottom left is first, top right is second, bottom right third (I might have 2nd and 3rd backwards).

I just assumed that there was another lever somewhere that switched the gearbox between a high and low range so that reverse would become high reverse, first fourth, second fifth etc.

Do I understand you correctly that all of the speeds are available without switching between a high and low gearset? i.e., we just have to keep fiddlin with the one gearshift till we find them all?

Best,
Byron
