I've got a bunch of them piled up in one of my barns - they don't seem to be too uncommon. The versions sold in the US were usually C5s and sold under the name of "Rototiller" by Siemans. Also assoiciated with Jacques. They are very similar to the units sold by Kaiser-Frazer, Grahm-Paige, etc. that were manufactured in the U.S. e.g. the B16s and B17s. Simar had other versions all over the world. The C-5 was first sold in the US in 1927, C5-3 in 1940, C55 in 1946, etc. Most Simars were designed so the engine could be run clockwise (for tilling), or counter-clockwise (for other uses like belt work). Late 50s, early 60s Simar made a four-wheel tractor with a 4-stroke, 12 horse engine - the T100A.

If you'll Google Simar rototiller several more sites will come up, at least one with more historical background, including some models sold under other names. Good luck.

Dad has a Simar C-56, imported to the UK and assembled by Geo. Monroe Ltd. Has the tiller and original steel wheels plus optional pneumatics, furrow plough and toolbar. Big 2-stroke engine. Think it was made about 1947.
The only additional info I've seen came from the link below.
Cheers, JV.
