I just bought a long which the dealer said was a 610 with 2610 engine. The hydraulic pump bleeds down after sitting. the previous owner just kept putting pumps on as they burned up. i'd like to fix it. The dealer doesn't know anything about a check valve and the manual doesn't show one. Anyone had experience with this or know of a repair? This is a pump mounted on the side of the engine

Overfilling the trans by about a gal will help keep it from sucking air usually

This tractor has a strainer, horizontally along the trans case.I received an e-mail saing that there should be a rubber flap at the pump end to act as a checkvalve, but it didn't have one and the parts manual doesn't show one. Still open to ideas.

Does the tractor have the filter (hydraulic spin on filter) located on engine right near the hydraulic pump ? The 2610 does and not sure all 610's did.

The suction tube on the 610 may have a wire strainer in it. The 2610 I have doesn't. It just has a spin on filter. If your's has the strainer inside the pickup tube it may be stopped up. May need cleaning or replacing. That would be a good place to start.

I bought a 2510DTC LONG brand new and had hydraulic troubles for years You wont believe this but the problem was the 1&1/8th return hose was sucking air letting it bleed down I put double clamps on it to be sure I didnt have an air leak I havent had a problem since. I bought a new pump but did not install. Still have original on it. I had thought of replacing that hose for 10 yrs., but always talked myself out of it. It just couldnt be that. I THOUGHT
