Anybody know what the origins of the Satoh tractors are? Saw one in a yard the other day while driving by. Would have sworn it was David Brown/Case, maybe DB770 by the body work and paint. Even the front crest was the same shape as a David Brown, just didn't have the roses in it.
Thanks

They were sold on the east coast by David Brown dealers hence the color likeness. they were sold out west by Ford dealers and they were painted blue and white like the Fords.

The Satoh tractors were distributed by the same people (NEDA) that distributed the David Brown tractor in the US.

NEDA was responsible for David Brown changing from Red and Yellow to Brown and White. They required that the Satoh be similar in style and be the same Brown and White color.

I worked for a Bolens dealer in the 70s that sold Satoh. I don't recall if Bolens-FMC had any affiliation with Satoh, or it was just coincidence. Satoh tractors were made in Japan and usually had either Mazda gas engines or Mitsubishi diesel engines. The Satoh company was, at the time, Satoh Agricultural Machine Co. Ltd., Higashiizumocho, Yatsuka Gun Shimane Pref. Japan. The company was bought by Mitsubishi in the 80s.

Not sure of their origin either but my son found one in Lincoln Ne that I ended up buying. Has a loader and came with a bush hog. Its a 650G and use it to mow with. It has power steering and makes nice rig. Runs forever on gas
