I found a old tractor in the woods behind my house and i do not know what it is. I found a set of numbers on the rear axle beside the clutch that read 1523DB. I can not find a serial number to match this number. The emblam that is stamped on it has a big C with a H inside the C and a I inside the H. I have to think that it is old because it is hand cranked. also i don't know if it will help but the front wheels are very close to gether. If any body has a clue what kind of tractor this is i would sure like too know.

Re: unidentifiable tractor-IHC logo in reply to EDB, 02-04-2006 18:52:23
The IHC logo mentioned was the main logo until replaced by the modern "block" style IH logo in 1939.
The narrow front end configuration suggests a FARMALL (row-crop) model.
Look for the name "McCormick-Deering" on the tractor as IH marketed their farm machinery under that name from 1921 to approximately 1951.
Serial numbers on those pre-war tractors were stamped into the metal rather than on a data plate.

Have a look at this website. www.weberstractorworks.com

They specialize in the older IH models.
Click on these models on the home-page "Regular" (1920's Farmall) F-30 (large 1930's model) F-20 (mid-sized 1930's) F-12 & 14 (small 1930's models)
If the tractor is one of these I recommend talking to the people on the "Farmall" forum on the "ytmag" website.

The "inter-twined" IHC logo was used as the main International Harvester logo until it was replaced by the "block style" IH logo in 1939.

The narrow front end configuration suggests a McCormick-Deering FARMALL model.
"McCormick-Deering" was the name IH used for their farm tractors between 1921-51
Have a look at this website www.weberstractorworks.com
They specialise in pre-war IH tractors
Click to the various Farmall models " Regular" (1920's)

& F-30 (1930's) F-20 F-12 & F-14 I recommend then talking to the people on the "Farmall" forum on the " ytmag " website.

The logo you describe was used at the time
(1902)of the formation of International
Harvester Company. I am uncertain how
many years this was used. This info as
told in 150 years of International Harves-
tor. Chuck

I H C in an emblem like that sounds like "International Harvester Company" as used on the old Titan and Mogul tractors.

third party image

This is the logo I was thinking of, but it could be on another model of IH tractor.
