So, I got the valves out. There was a small pin at the end of each that I removed that enabled me to take everything apart.

In the end there were no keepers to be found and the three of the guides were down in the spring. The others are tightly wedged in the block. So now, I'm gusssing that someone had previously put the valve assembly back together without keepers. If so, where can I find keepers. If not, I'm lost...

Maybe I'm not understanding you? If there were pins at the ends of the valves that slide in sideways, they ARE the keepers. Many Hercules and Continentals use them. Are is it the retainers you're missing?

Your best bet would be to find another engine to get parts from.Acracked block might have good valve parts in it.I had one here a while ago and gave it to a friend.
