I have a silver king with a hercules IXB engine. I currently have the head and valve covers off. I would like to referbish the engine.

1) where can I find a head gasket?

2) Help, I don;t know how to compress the springs enough to find any keepers. Maybe there are no keepers as I know them from my Fords(?)

There are keepers, probably just pins instead of split-halve keepers. There are several types of valve-spring tools that work fine. The IXB3 engine is used in many tractors. Best bet for a head gasket is probably Zimmermans in PA - he's a Cletrac dealer. His number is: 707-738-2573

There is a special old time tool just for doing that spring compression. The keepers are in there. When i had my head off i just reused the gasket.
