My Model 42 Silver king is almost done, but I got a question about the hood. Back by the dash where the bolts go threw the hood and the dash to hold down the hood how was this tightend down? You can't put a bolt threw and put a nut on the other end cause the gas tank is in the way. I thought about taping the holes and screwing the bolts in. Just wanted to hear what anyone else might have done. Thanks

My 1948 Silver King has small sheet metal screws with a phillips head. These simply go through the hood and thread into the dash holes. I believe the screws I have are original as several were rusted completely through and broke off upon removal attempts. Good luck with the silver king and show us some pictures when it is all done. (I just got mine in primer this week - will hopefully have it painted and back together before Winter)

Thanks for the help. I taped my holes and put bolts in it. Worked good. I should have it allready to go in a week or to if all goes well.

I have the same tractor and took the easy way out. I used sheet metal screws. There were holes there but nothing wanted to line up.
