could you please tell me what was meant by the term "oil pull"

The term comes NOT from the fact that they are oil cooled but that the engines would "successfully" burn heavier fuels such as distilate, kerosene and even heavier fuels but kerosene was the preferred fuel.
Burning these heavier fuels in these relatively high compression engines required the introduction of large amounts of water vapor along with the fuel to, primarily, prevent preignition knock. Water useage under heavy loads required more water than fuel.
I have a Rumely S and use an approximate 60/40 gasoline/diesel fuel mix which works well without the water.
