I have a 460 long that at high idle it has a miss to it I can canceal out injectors and the miss stops when i take #2 injector out. I tryed moving the injectors and the problem stays at #2 I did a compression test and all cylinders are showing @420psi I also had the injection pump rebuilt. Can anyone tell me where to look next.

Thanks for any help

My earlier U640DT had a similar problem, it was the diesel overflow where it fed back into the intake manifold for cold weather starting. The element was shot and it stayed open most all of the time, flooding the engine with diesel. Do not kow if your model has that set-up. Easy to check, just follow the overflow line down. I took mine off and plugged it up.

Check the book and make sure the fast idle is governed at the proper specs. Overspeeding often can cause miss at fast idle. Wear in the gear train at the front of the engine causes later timing/fast idle miss. Once the fast idle speed is correct and the high speed miss is still there, I have had good success by advancing the injector pump timing just enough to get it to smooth out. Too much advance, of course, will damage the engine.
