Can anyone help me try to find a throw out bearing for a Model 42 Silver King? Im sure there are other tractors out there that used the same size. Mine appears to be in good shape, but I would prefer to have a new one since Im going all the way on the restoration. I Don't like to take short cuts and have it come back to haunt me later. Thanks
Jason

If it is a conventional-type throwout bearing, it will have a manufacturer's name and part number on it, and an REAL auto parts store or industrial bearing house will be able to cross-reference it, or post the #, and I'll cross it for you.

Well,Bob I cleaned the bearing up real good today and was able to get a name. I believe it says- SCHATZ or something like that. Its a little hard to read. The part number is 1136. I thank you for the help. I have a company that sells all kinds of bearings and seals near my home. I hope maybe I could get one there. Thanks!

You didn't mention if your Silver King has the early Hercules or the later Continental engine. The bearing numbers can get confusing due to several issues. Many old bearing numbers do not cross to modern numbers, and also, many new numbers are for the total assembly (bearing and holder) and not just for the bearing. If it doesn't cross easily, NAPA has a pictorial book with every throwout bearing and holder they sell. Takes a little time to look through but comes in real handy. I just went through a goose-chase trying to identify a throw-out bearing used in a Cletrac HG auxillary transmission and also in some Cockshutt tractors. Bearing number is A2256 which no longer crosses to anything. So, measured the bearing and it is now a N1087. Searched the NAPA book for holders that match, and found the entire assembly, bearing and holder as a N1313 and listed for a 1948 Dodge Powerwagon. So, NAPA has it but wanted $75. Searched the web and found a Powerwagon website that sells them for $17 each. So, you never know.

I worked on a 42 one time and the bearing crossed right over. I also had a throwout bearing catalog at one time. I can look for it maybe Tuesday.

Take a look at a N1136 C/R bearing, if you can. I think that"s the number you need!

C/R is "Chicago Rawhide".

A real "auto supply" store will have access to that brand, an idustrial bearing supply dealer may have it in "SKF", same number.

If I can find my illustrated guide book, I'll post a picture of it with dimensions for you.
