Does anybody know about Long 445 clutch assembly?
We purchased a rebuilt clutch assembly from wenger's of Myerstown. It included the clutch plate, clutch pressure plate, pto clutch plate, pto pressure plate, clutch cover and six pins.
All of the pins are the same length. On the old clutch that we removed the pins that operate the PTO clutch were longer. Shold they be the same length or are the PTO pins supposed to be longer?

Also when we bolt the assembly up to the flywheel one of the fingers that the throwout bearing activates is not in the same plane as the other two. There is an adjustment for this but that one finger won't adjust properly.

I have a shop manual for an Allis Chalmers 5040 whch I believe is identical to the Long.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Not sure how much I can help. I was into one of these several years ago. I am thinking that the pins for the pto clutch may be shorter. I have a manual and will try to look at it later. I do know that there is a series ot bolts with locking nuts to adjust the pedal play for the pto clutch. There is an adjustment for the fingers that you mentioned. There is a small set screw in the housing where the pin and spring for the finger hold it to the housing. It takes a slotted screwdriver. It also may have a locking nut. You can call Robbie at 336-885-4582. I know that he can give you more info. Good Luck!

It looks like the pins are the same length in the manual.
