How do you bleed the hydraulic system. We had a loader put on it and the steering is now very hard. The fluid is good and full. The pump is brand new. Everything but the steering works great. The hydraulic pump runs the steering, remotes and lift. Remotes and lift work great. Just the steering is the problem. Be for it was fine. I know some of the problem is the added wieght in the front, but I lifted the front of the tractor up and it was still hard to turn the wheels. Any suggestions.....
Thanks, Steve

While the front end is up in the air, try turning it lock to lock several times to see if it will push out any air that may me in the system..

Well, I tried it and it seemed to help some. I found today I could have put a tandom pump on it and it would have helped but we just put a single one on it. Also There is a device called a "power beyond" that they say would help but it would cost $400.00. Not sure if it's worth it right now. Anybody heard of a power beyond. If so how do they work and would it actually make a noticable difference. Steve

I had power beyond on one of mine, it was a block that replaced the outside cover on the remote valve pack. The outer cover is quite thick and your loader valve pack plumbed into the cover. At least i hope i remembered that right!! :>)))

How do you have your loader plumbed?? Did you just plug it into your remotes????

Yes the loader is connected directly into the remotes. The tractor has four connection and two control levers. The loader only uses 2 of the 4 connections. If either one of the control levers are open to allow the remotes to work it shuts off the lift. I can"t really tell a big difference in the steering with the remotes on or off. It seems the steering may be getting a little easier. Hopefully it just had air in the system and its working it way back out. What I was wondering about the power beyond was will it move more fluid to the steering and if so would it slow the loader down. Thanks, steve

I believe steering gets fluid first, then it heads toward the remotes, i think power beyond is for getting hydraulic fluid without going through the remotes, so less restriction and heat. Power beyond has nothing to do with the steering.

Many times a "dual pump" system has one pump for steering, the other for everything else. I don't remember if the older Deutz were set up this way or not??

Well the steering doesn't seem to be as bad as it started off to be. I think maybe we had some air in the lines. As far as the dual pump, it did not have one on it but after I paid $330 for a new one I found out I could have paid $700 for a dual pump and that would have made everything run better. But as I said I think its getting better and a can't expect a 20+ year old tractor with a new, modern loader to operated like a brand new John Deere or Ford. It's functional and anyways I'm sure my arms could use the work out. Heck I might even be able to classify it as a cardio work out.
Well, thank you for helping me out and clearing up some of my questions and concerns.
Thank you, Steve

I knew I would have another question. Is the clutch hydraulic?

Thanks. I got some news on the steering. All this trouble was fixed by a simple little dip stick. The stick that was in it was some sort of homemade thing that was put on it before we ever bought it. Yesterday I noticed that fluid would leak out around the hole. I went to a local deutz dealer. When I filled the fluid up and put thae correct dip stick in there I notice the steering go a little easier. About 10 minutes of use I could steer it with one finger in very sandy soil with a full bucket. I could not believe a simple $13.00 dip stick would fix the problem. Also they should me the power beyond plate. It was different that what bush hog showed. Bush just shows some kind of fitting that goes on the controller for the loader. He showed me a plate that mounts on the side of the remote valves on the tractor. It has two ports on it that you plug the loader into rather that the romote connections at the back of the tractor. He said this would increase the the speed of the loader and allow me to use the lift at the same time. Steve

Glad you got the steering figured out!!! Then the power beyond was as i remembered, and it's also how i had the loader plumbed on mine!!

Glad it worked out for you!

Do you think that the power beyond plate would speed the loader up some. I was looking at the romote hookups. It seems like there is alot of 90 degree turns and then the quick disconnect. It looks like all that would reduce the flow of fluid. If I had the power beyond it would then be directly connected with only one elbow. Would that increase the speed

Yes, i think it will speed it up, but i'm not sure how much though!!

I've been told it's a worth while change... , plus it free's up your remotes!!!

Be carefull of the "special" flat 0 rings under the remote block cover, they are about 15 or 20 bucks each!! I think they recommend you change them if you add the power beyond, or even open the block...

I don't have a deutz, but it sounds like a broken flow divider spring,or the flow divider is stuck,or the steering preasure reilf is stuck open.

hi,
i own a deutz D5505 with kind of the same problem as described here. we have a new and strong pump installed, most of the seals and rings are new but the problem remains. on my deutz, the power steering gets too much oilpressure and the loader does not raise at idle engine speed. you need to speed up the engine in order to raise the shovel.
we disassembled the flow divider but couldn't find anything wrong in it. but we don't know much about it. so it might be possible, that we just didn't see the prob. in the flow splitter in my deutz there is just a kind of a piston moving more or less freely up and down in its housing. nothing more. is this the whole thing? or are there springs missing in it?
so please, if you can give me more information in the functionallity of the flow splitter, please let me know. maybe we then can solve the problem.
greetings from an antique-deutz owner in germany
