I have a Deutz 6807. We are putting a Bushhog 2426 front end loader on it. The tractor manual says to use 10w or 20w20 motor oil in the hydraulic system. I am sure the loader says to use hydraulic oil. What should I do. Anybody ever run regular hydraulic oil in the system and if so did it work ok. Can anybody give me a reason not to use hydraulic oil? Could it be harmful.
Thanks for any input. Steve

You can run hydraulic in your Deutz.... I've done that in one of mine for many years now...

Thanks. We got the loader put on but it was running a little slow. We went ahead and replaced the hydraulic pump. It's still at the shop so I don't know yet if it has improved any. I heard the hydraulics on the Deutz are somewhat slow anyways. Do you know anything about that. Steve

Yes the hydraulics on the old Deutz were fairly slow. On some models you could run a pump for the loader off the crank shaft if you have a need for more speed.

I assume your running the loader off the side of the remote valve pack???? That's how i ran mine when i had a Deutz with a loader.

It"s running off the standard pump. We replaced the pump and its suppose to be a larger pump. I was told the original pump is either a 14cc or a 16cc. The one I am having put on is a 19cc. The local deutz place says you can generally take the cc"s and divide it by 2 and get a general idea of GPM. So that being said we should improve some. If the original pump new was 7-8 gpm. Now take into concideration the pump is over 20 years old, it was probably only about 4gpm. The new one is going to be about 10gpm. That should help out(I hope). The loader specs say for optimum preformance it should have 11gpm at 2450psi. We should be close.
I should be able to pick it up tomorrow(Monday). I will let you know what the reslts are.
Thanks for you help and input. Steve

If the new pump is 10 gpm, you have sone loss before it gets to the remotes, so you will be a ways from the target number of 11 gpm at the remotes..

I'm thinking the stock pumps were about 8.5 gpm..... That's from memory, so..... .

Hope it works out for you!!

Well, I got the tractor back today. Everything with the loader works great. The only concern now is the steering is a little stiffer than it was. It's is getting better as we use it so I think there is air in the system. Do you know of a easy way to bleed the system. My other tractor has a place on the pump to bleed it. I don't really think the remotes need bleeding as much as the power steering. Any advise?
