Well,Im starting to rip into my newest toy. I just figured I might ask if any of you out there have any pointers when it comes to rebuilding this 162 cubic inch Contental engine(such as things to watch out for) Im going to be ordering a rebuild kit for a Massey Harris 30 since these were the same engine they used in the Silver King. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Jason

Before you order a kit, take the engine apart and size it up. Remember that is still a very popular engine. You may be better off getting parts prices several different places.

Check for cracks down the inside of the cylinders ,especialy no.4. these engines used two different style front crank bearings and you have to determine which style you have before ordering new ones. The most important area on these continentals is the valve guides. If they are worn the engine will smoke badly even with perfect rings....Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks alot Galen! I think I will definitly have to look for worn out valve guides or seats cause the engine was giving out alot of blow by smoke out of the tube that is connected to valve cover. The engine had a small trace of smoke out of the exhaust pipe. Other then that the engine ran pretty good and seemed to have a good bit of power. Thanks again
