Some of the stuff will interchange with the B.F. Avery "A" series tractor. Might look for stuff that way. Mike Ballash, AKA "Alberta Mike" has a lot of information on these critters, post him a note for more information. He has compiled a short history lesson on them also. Gene Davis

There is an article on this website somewhere about the Cletrac General (Cleveland tractor company). After Cletrac quit making them, they were manufactured by B.F. Avery as their "Model A." If I knew of one that was complete and loose for $500, I would buy it. I think they are just neat and the General's are pretty rare, but the Model A's show up on Ebay quite often. Be wary, I have seen two General's on ebay over the last couple years that were actually Model A's with General paint and decals. The serial number is what you need to verify. I also think that Cletrac used a different and/or smaller Hercules engine than B. F. Avery. Just my two cents.

The General has a metal serial number tag which has Cleveland Tractor Company on it. The Avery has the serial number stamped with a number set. The first Avery model A tractors are identical to the General. Then things changed. Remember this was World War two and things were tough to come by. The first Generals had the IXA and then the IXK Hercules engine same as the Avery. The General was built from 1939 untill sometime in 1941. Serial number tend to follow Cletrac practice but they have the early set up for the first tractors and the later set up for the last ones. Where are you located?
