I have just picked up a Belt pulley assembly for my model 42 Silver King and I can't figure out how it engages or disengages its self?? I have not put it on yet,but it appears to me that it would be turning all the time when the engine it running. There is a big "T" bolt that screws down in the housing, but I don't see what that would do? There is a small slot though that makes it look like something slides back and forth, but don't know how that could be done? Any help would be greatfully appreciated! Thank You!
Jason

You loosen the T-handle to slide the pulley in and out to engage and disengage it. You of course do this with the engine off.

On the older ones they turned ALL the time.It could be like the allis WC where they slide in and the big bolt holds it engaged while you are useing it.You pull it back out when not useing.

Thanks Larry. I was thinking that it probably does slide in and out. What a odd and un safe way of having something. I guess I'll bolt it on someday and see what happens.
