Nuffield 10/60 - brake problem

Hi all,

I"ve got a Nuffield 10/60 with terrible brakes. Anywhere I go with it, you"ll see a terrified tractor driver. The tractor itself is loaded down with a backhoe and loader, so I"m wondering if the existing brakes are simply inadequate to handle the additional load, or if the brakes on this model have always just been bad.

Further - if anyone has any suggestions as to how to beef up the brake system, or replace it outright with something that, you know... stops, that"d also be much appreciated.

The brake discs soon get hard and shiny then they do not work well. I put new discs in mine and that improved things.

Try this forum for help with your Nuffield. I do own a Nuffield and the brakes sound similar to yours.

My 10/60 brakes work extremely well. I replaced the disks about 5 years ago and I lubricated the ball ramps with a little anti-sieze grease. Also you might try sanding the sufaces of the disks if they become glazed.
