Just got a Silver King model 42 today. How can I tell the difference between a Large 3 wheeler and small 3 wheeler? All I know is its a model 42 and its a 1945. Also it needs a tune up so where could I get points, cap, coil, etc? Thank you in advance for any info!

Be sure to check ebay for gasket sets for Continental F162 or F4162 engines, I got a full set for around $12 including two head gaskets. I also have a Model 42, a 1948 model. Be sure to check out www.silverkingtractors.com and also Link If you don't have an owner's manual, there are at least two on ebay right now. These are not reprints and really neat to read through. Enjoy your orphan.

If its a 1945 it should be a big one. When they first changed to the continential engine they used the same rear as the smaller engine. They soon realized they needed to beel up the size to handel the added HP of the engine. They use the same delco parts as most 4 cylinder farm engines.Order the same parts as a massy harris 33 or oliver super 55.

Thanks for the help Larry. I have been doing some research and I have noticed that Massey used the same Continental engine(162 cubic inch)so I was leaning towards getting the points from that. If I would need new gaskets for the engine do you know what type of tractor used the same engine? Yes,Im pretty sure its a 1945. I looked up the sn# 6410 up on the Silver King web site. I would hope that it would be accurate. Thanks again!!

Oop's i may have said something wrong above. That engine could have 2 differant distributers, one delco and one autolite. The silverking should have the delco. The massy harris have the autolite. The 101 jr. has the most similar engine. You can get parts from places by ordering for the engine alone.Try napa but the electric parts are cheaper other places. The log model A uses this engine too.

Thanks again! Im pretty sure it is a delco. I saw the Delco name on the coil holder, but I'll try to cleant the distributer up tomarrow to see if I can find any markings to make sure.
