I have a 510 4WD that had a similar problem. To make it not turn you had to constantly turn the wheel the other way. I rebuilt the steering piston and fixed the problem. The difference was so great that I felt bad for not noticing the slow loss of control before then. It was only ten bucks for the parts to fix it.

Your tractor is equipped with what is called power assist steering. It can be adjusted by loosening the clamp bolt just behind where the steering link is connected to it. Hold the valve body with you left hand and try to turn the chrome rod with yor right. Turn it a 1/4 turn in one direction and then see if it improves. If not turn it back the other direction a 1/4 and check the results.
