I was wondering what a early Kinkade garden tractor might be worth? The man that owns it says it was built in 1917. I realize the price would depend on on condition and I haven't seen it yet. The owner says it is not running and rusted up. Thought someone might be able to give me some idea ot the price range.

There was a Kinkead tractor made in 1917. It was a three wheeled tractor and was only made one year. Unrelated to it is the Kinkade garden tractor. All I've seen or had were one-wheeled with the engine inside of the wheel. They were made, starting during the 1920s, a model "K" and a model "L". I've seen several sell on Ebay for $250. I've bought them in the condition you describe in the range from $25 to $200. That's not to say there aren't other people who might pay more. I've been collecting tractors (and a lot of other stuff) for over 30 years and so far, walk-behind garden tractors still tend to go cheap. They offer about the only bargains at farm auctions nowadays. I've got well over a hundred, many of which were pulled from scrap-piles. It does seem though that interest is starting to grow in them.

jdemaris, You wouldn't by chance have a piston and cylinder for a model L you'd like to sell? I have a friend in Tenn. who's looking for one.
