I have a 6 ft. wide rotary tiller (pto driven) will a 3006 handle this? The areas to til have all been planted in previous years. Thanks,Steve

I've used my 6' Howard Rotavator on my 30-06 Deutz, and it really isn't enough tractor unless you are just doing garden size plots.

You didn't say what brand tiller you have, and some run a little easier than others because they don't till as deeply.

The wetter/heavier the ground is, the more hp it takes to till it.

The roto tiller is a bush-hog brand, and not the most heavy duty one they make.it would be used only for a couple of grarden plots that have been tilled for years.I also have a 6 ft. bush-hog (sqealer) mower, would it handle this, just in tall grass over 20 acres?
,The guy also has a 4006 for sale, with a loader but cost more $$.Thanks for your help. Steve

That tiller for "garden work" or small fields will be just fine on your 30-06!!! I've put over 500 hours on my 30-06 with a tiller, and i just had to be carefull with what i was doing.

As for the Hog, i use to run my 6' Woods hog on my 30-06 too, and it does a very good job. Keep in mind, these Deutz tractors are "NOT compacts", they ARE a HD tractor and will keep on chugging where a 30 hp compact would turn to junk!!!

I tried my 6' rotavator on a 30 hp Kubota one time and in 15 minutes it was overheating!! I went back to the barn and checked the rad, and there nothing wrong with it, it was just that the tractor was overloaded, running against the governor all the time.

My 6' Woods would overheat the same Kubota in "tall" rye, that the 30-06 would cut just fine too.

I also had a 40-06 too, and it does have a noticeable power boost over the 30-06, as "it should", with 38 pto hp, compared to the 30 pto hp of the 30-06.

Robert
