Anyone familiar with the Zetor Tractor? I have been looking at one to buy, but not to sure of it being made in the Czech Republic. Parts hard to get? Does it stand up to the task? Any info would be appreciated.

It's pretty easy. On the right side towards the top of the compressor there is about a 3/16 rod sticking out that is bent in a 90 degree angle. This is the clutch. Lift this up and push in the knurled knob on the front of the compressor. sometimes you need to play with the clutch a little to get it to engage. Just be careful you don't get your left hand in the fan!

Zetor rules, Its the best for the money. Some guys like ford and some like chevy. Some guys hate Zetor some Love ZETOR. I for one have used and abused my 60 hp Zetor and have had no problems except for a broke blinker. Starts in 0 degree weather every time.No priming. Buy yourself a Zetor and youll be glad you did. Zetor is on top of there game with dealers opening up all the time. Dont buy a JD or ford just because farmer john has always had a JD or Ford. Farmer John may not have but a forth grade education. He may not know any other brand is out there.
Dont be a follower be a LEADER and buy a new ZETOR!!!!! !!!
Also check the weight of any tractor in the same horsepower range and a ZETOR will be heavier.Weight of the tractor will prove to be an advantage when your whippin up on farmer John at the tractor pull.

I have to agree. I have looked at the Zetor along with every other brand out there and they have twice the features as other tractors, a more comfortable ride (with the floating deck) and are heavier than tractors in its own class. I do not own one just yet. I will very shortly. Will be buying the 3340. 46hp 4x4. Will let you know how it holds up. The other feature that it has that is really neat and might be pretty useful is the aircompressor that it comes with standard!

After reading the following comment I felt that maybe someone could give me some answers.
The comment was:
The other feature that it has that is really neat and might be pretty useful is the aircompressor that it comes with standard!

I bought a 1993 Zetor 3340 4x4 new in 1993
I am unsure how many hours are on this tractor because the electronic tack quit working soon after I got it.
Last Oct.2002 I had my first flat tire on it.
(AFTER ABOUT 3 to 5 MIN. The compressor seized.
BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN USING THE AIRCOMPRESSORS.
The zetor workshop manual on page c-19 talks about compressor seizure.
The same shaft that runs the compressor runs the
injection pump.
My local dealer has been in my area since 1998 and has a big shop but they tell me they don't how many hours it would take to fix because the tractor has to be split in the front.
The manuals for these tractors don't show the
common farm mech. good enought pictures.
Does any know how to time a 3340 Zetor that got out of time because of commpressor seizure.

Get any Zetor manuals from the nearest Zetor dealer. Call Zetor (888-357-5105) to obtain dealer lists, or see zetor.com.

Eastern European manufacturers are not known

Those are no real Zetor, just a rebadged tractor from the same distributor

The difference in the Zetor and the same style John Deere is the price that makes them a good value for the farmer looking for a tractor to work and is not concerned with the cosmetic imperfections, they are also more friendly for the owner to work on. This comes from a small farmer who traded a 70 hp John Deere in on a 65hp Zetor, the John Deere stayed in the shop. There are not many tractors built here that are realy a true American tractor. thanks.

Zetor tractors are made in the Czech republic and are also very popular in Canada and gaining ground slowly here. a farmer friend of the family has one in the sixty-seventy H.P. range and is pleased to no end, having purchased it used as a third tractor. His other two are a forty horse or so early eighties ford and a kubota of around 25 h.p. or thereabouts. The rougher castings do tend to be slightly off-putting, especially if you are used to the Chinese and Japanese machines sold here by New Holland, (made by Shibaura in Japan), John Deere(made byYanmar in Japan, Massey Ferguson(made by Hinomoto in Japan, and case/IH/cub cadet (made by Mitsubishi). Just about all of the under 100 h.p. machines sold as Ford, J.D, Massey etc. are made overseas, and we think they are made here because of the sleek american designed fiberglas hoods and fenders, and the extra casting grinding done to take away those rough edges, which the Czechs don't bother with, since it only drives their costs up. These tractors also have neat stickers that say "assembled in America" which I am told translates to Wheels being bolted on to get the machines out of their freight containers, and of course the addition of the above mentioned sticker. At this moment Zetor has struck a deal to re-badge two models of larger tractor, (from the pictures I saw I'd guess they were 50-70 horse machines) for John Deere, but these are only sold in green Deere livery overseas to "developing markets" as it were. Here they are sold as Plain old Zetors. Ford New Holland tractors in this range (100 hp and up) are all made in Europe,(England coming to mind) and of course below this displacement in various non U.S. factories, the exception being the very large special purpose machines which are still made here in the States. As for Massey ferguson, many of their utility tractors are born in India. The TAFE tractor brand is a licence built sixties vintage Massey Ferguson utility tractor and the difference in the roughness of the castings is quite evident when you compare it to the U.S. made version of yesteryear, and the contemporary Indian made Masseys shipped here to the Name brand dealers. below this size they are made in Japan. I don't know what sizes Massey still makes here. Apologies for my long windedness

We own a Zetor tractor and are interested in looking at new ones. We bought our 1st one from Pray Tractor in MA. but they no longer carry them. Can you tell me who in New England especially near Rhode Island deals with Zetor Tractors.
