Recently my lift quit working, and I found that the hydraulic oil was low and milky, so I drained and refilled. I have already put in 4 gallons. My lift is working, but it stays lifted even with the lever on lower. I know it still needs more oil, but do how much more? Why will my lift not lower at this point? Any help is greatly appreciated! The lever under the seat adjusts the speed or responsiveness of the lift. The lever on the lower right side of the lift sets the draft control. Lever up, draft control on. Lever down, draft control off. On all the longs I have used, the lift arms go lower when the draft control is on. Keep hyd. oil filter clean. It is located on the lower right side of engine. Be careful with washer that is glued to end of filter. Good Luck.

Stand behind the tractor and feel or look under the control lever on the right side. Find the small lever coming out of the housing with a roller on the end and check for free movement. If it moves ok see if you get a response when you adjust the small lever just under the seat on the right side.

Most of the time when the lift quits working on a Long, it is because the check valve is stuck in the up position. I can't say if this valve will stick down and cause lift to stay up. This valve is located under the seat. You will need a 1 1/16 wrench to remove the threaded cap. There is a large but weak spring under this cap. Remove and clean then reinstall to see if it helps your problem.

I HAVE A 460 LONG WITH A FRONT BUCKET, THE HYDRAULIC OIL WILL OVERFLOW AND COME OUT THE OVERFLOW WHEN I LOWER THE CYLINDER ARMS AND BUCKET DOWN. CAN ANYONE SAY WHY THIS IS?

Up to 510 carry 5 gallons of oil. Did you clean the filter? A must on Longs.
