TO: Joe Nervi Jr:

Speedex is a good garden tractor - but - is very difficult to find parts for.

One with mechanical ability and parts can keep it running and working - with patients, ability and time.

I have one and enjoy the repair. If you don't want to under the trouble to resotre yours, I will consider buying yours.
Pleae call me at 281-356-8843.

Thanks

Speedex, I am not familiar with that brand however,...

Older tractors pluses..
Better made - cast iron parts Simpler construction - easier for do it yourselfers to fix Heavier - better suited for more than mowing
Experienced people - once you find the right contacts, its easy to get parts or find info on them.
Cheaper - most people want new not knowing that some tractors run forever.
Hold value - when sold to the right person, some people need a tractor to do a very specific job, pull a large load, mow etc, the smaller tractors can not do the job, but these older ones can.
parts- some can be cheap but hard to physically get from point a to b.
better conversation pieces - people stop me all the time to ask about my old tractor

Minuses
Break down - you are always tinkering with them to keep em running.
parts - if a major part like a tranny goes, then the part can run into big bucks
attachments - have to settle for used or worn equipment, attachments - have to jury rig attachement to work on your model.
knowledge - sometimes the old timers do not know about your specific model they know about it in general.
less efficient - bigger fuel hogs - mowers are not recylcing
Less safety features - roll bars, brakes, seat belts, dead man switches
Noisy - older engines have older muffler systems, run a little hotter

just my two cents..
