Dealer has a long 610 on the lot for $3500. Tires are fair, pwr steering, fair condition. He tells me it has 49hp pto 54hp engine. Is he correct? Also I would like to add a quick attach loader. What is the flow volume for these and are the hydraulics live? I don't want a tractor that I can't use the 3pt or loader with the clutch in.
Any other info or web sites on this tractor would help in my decision. Thanks.

610 are rated 60hp. They have 4 cylinder engine. A 510 is rated 48 hp and have a 3 cylinder engine. The hydraulics are live. The pump is located on the right front of the engine. Factory hyd. pumps can operate a loader but are slow. Long had a larger replacement pump, 8 gpm if I remember correctly. I have had to cut the suction tube and extend out to mount to the larger pump on some tractors.

Either one, if start OK when cold and has no blowby, price is fair.

Thanks, how about the pto. How does it operate and is it live or independant?

On a 610 or 510 Long, the PTO is independant. There should be a hand lever on the left top side of the transmission that you raise and lock to disengage the pto clutch. The PTO shifter is under the seat just rear of the main transmission shifters. When engaging the PTO clutch, let the lever down slowly as you would the main clutch.

Had a fellow borrow one of my 610 tractors once. With the engine at PTO speed and a 6ft. brushog on the rear he just dropped the hand clutch suddenly. The force from each cutter blade sheared the blade bolts off the other. Both blade flew out from under the cutter. Glad there were no other damage or no person got hurt.
