I see quite a number of used tractors advertised as having "cold air" A/C . Played with a 2-85 white at an auction that had a sticker on it that said "cold air". And it did indeed blow quite abit colder than many . Is this a total retrofit a/c system or just changed to a different refridgerant? Am going to try to get the air in my 105 fixed, so looking at options. Thanks for any info.

The ones built before 1978 didnt work as well. They had electric fan motors up above theback window. The later ones worked very well.

We reworked our air on our 110 late summer. Had to buy a new compressor, line filter and expansion fitting. The fella that worked on mine said a 134 retro may not be possible because of the front coil in front of the radiator, he claimed that it couldn't handle 134 because of it being so narrow. ( the fins I thought). All greek to me I do know we cleaned everything really well and it blows snow now!! Just kidding. It does work well, I replaced the blower motor also that made a really big difference. Spent a little more than I wanted, but it's right and works great, when it's 100 plus out there I ain't scared!! If you go as far as I have, keep the windows closed and keep the dust out, keeping the cab clean makes a big difference. I have a brother that likes to run with the windows open, so he can here the motor, I showed him the repair bill he runs with them closed now! Good luck!

"Cold air" simply means that it works, not that its necessarily any colder than any other system.

I don't know that 134a is any colder than R12 if that's what you're wondering. As for retrofit, you can get a kit from the autoparts store for about $35 to change them. I've changed my 85 Ford pickup,I changed a Deere and the dealer changed my 2-135 before I bought it. All it is,there are different fittings that screw right over the old ones. There's a tube of oil that you hook up to it,turn a nut and force it in,then put the 134a gas in. Great part about it,a refrigeration man told me,there is a sealant in it that will seal up tiny leaks, and once you have changed it,you have the hose to add 134 any time you need it if it does continue to leak a little.
