Recently acquired Oliver tractor that has Made in Italy on the Oliver Corp. Nameplate. The Model # 32521007 and Ser. #742952 are stamped clearly into the nameplate. I have the engine at the shop now, it is a Fiat 4-cyl. looks to be about 35 to 40 Hp. Need any info anyone might have on this tractor. Will need gaskets and rings and bearings. thanks. Leon

Leon: Refering to reply of "MONGO", it is true that both the Oliver and Allis chalmers tractors were buiilt by FIAT, however the Oliver was built by the Italian part of the company and the AC was built by the Romaninan part. In most areas of the tractor the parts will not interchange. As I worked for the Co when we sold these tractor, I know this to be true.

That's a 1969 Oliver 1250. The gas model was rated at 35HP, and the Diesel model at 38HP. They both had a rated speed of 2500RPM.

What follows is NOT good news, I'm afraid.

Unfortuneately, they were rather noted for engine trouble--the updated 1250-A had a much more reliable engine. Main and rod bearings are no longer available for 1250's, which is something they were hard on. The head gasket is still available, though, which is foretunate, because they had quite an appetite for those, too. The 24V starter system in the Diesels cost a fortune to repair and maintain.

Dsl, you are wise beyond your years. How the 1250 and 1365 can look so much alike and yet be so different is one of the unsolved mysteries of the universe.

Leon, the same tractor was made for Allis Chalmer (both companies belong to AGCO). Most parts are interchangable but the new parts are just as rare. When you go looking for parts, watch for the look of panic in the parts guys eyes. Wish I had better words for you.

I'd be pretty dumb if I hadn't caught on to all the poor souls that have called me, hoping against hope, that I had a good set of bearings, or a good AND cheap 24V starter for one. The 1450's weren't much better on the head gaskets, while we're on that subject.

Not to be picky, but the 1250-A looks much more like the 1365 than the 1250 does--quite a difference in the grille.

1250-A, 1255, 1265, 1270, 1355, 1365, 1370, 1465 & 1470 are the ones to go for. Watch the 55 series 4WD front ends, though.

Another question that seems to pop up occasionally is 'was there a 1465 or 1470 4WD?', and the answer to that is YES--we have them here in Ontario.
