I saw this on Ebay. Too far for me to drive. Would be great for someone needing 720 parts.

I"d like to know how somebody wore out a knotter in 4200 bales, even if they NEVER greased it. We sold Hesston and Oliver/White and there were no Oliver green parts on the Hesstons.

That was kind of my point. Like how many zeros to add to the 4200. Like all the corn pickers we looked at that had "only done 100 acres" 72 times. I at least am more inclined to buy when somebody tells you they've run the snot out of it than LIE about it being low usage.

Walt Buescher was blockman for Allis Chalmers in eastern Michigan and northern Ohio. He used to tell how everybody that ever wanted to trade in a Fordson claimed to have the only one in the world that didn't leak water. I didn't look, but I'd be willing to bet there was no picture of how oblong the drawpin hole was in the tongue.

Maybe they did something stupid like I did 40 years or so ago.The knife was dull on one knotter and the knot would stick on the fingers now and then. We would pry them apart with a screwdriver and pull it out. One day it wouldn't pull out when I was rebaling some broken bales. I'd been tripping it and making small bales for some reason. So I left the screwdriver in it,went around and kicked some hay in thinking it would pull the knot out. Well,it tripped on its own and took the screwdriver right around in the discs that hold the twine. That was the end of that. Last I knew, that knotter still layed around here somewhere with that thing stuck in it.

It is part of the selling and buying that goes on everyday. That is why you should buy from some you can trust and not just the cheepest. I could be wrong but have you ever have something that broke for some unknomn reason also looks to me like a oliver knotter.

Another typical Ebay claim of usage. I like all these "low" houred tractors for sale. About the only piece of ag equipment you can get honestly is weights anymore.

I suppose it's been "shedded" all it's life too!!!

Man that thing is rusty. The Oliver green replacement knotter looks to be the best of the two as the gears and worm look less worn, but if the chains and knotters are this rusty, you sure won't have to tighten the tensioner much to get tight bales! At least for the first 500 or so.
