I have found two 990 GMs in the past couple of
months for sale. Both have their rear-ends taken
apart with some apparent gear or transmission
problems. Is this a common problem with these tractors? Are the parts available? How costly a
project would this likely be? Thanks. Bob

Bob I have heard that the rear ends on these were bullet proof. Parts could be hard to find since these things hardly ever get wrecked out. Still they could be worth a lot in parts. I would buy the oil bath air filter off them. I would even be interested in purchasing one of them for parts. How much do they want for them? Let me know if you want to sell parts or a complete one or tell me where I could get one. How is the rest of the tractor?

Bob the 990 was before my time during my years working for an oliver dealer but I do know that the rear end bull gears going out was a common problem for these tractors. The cost I really have no idea what that would run you but I do know that its not cheap at all. You might check with a local White dealer and check on the price and availability of the bull gears. Be sure to check into bearings if you think these tractors would happen to need them. Good Luck
