In a previous post, J Schweibert mentioned Early Super 88 heads with larger exhaust valves. Sleeves were evidently put in to reduce exhaust valve size. I am not familiar with this interesting variation, so I have some questions: 1. Did the sleeve actually reduce the combustion chamber size and therefore increase compression, or, was the sleeve put in more or less like a valve seat insert, where it would not affect compression? 2. Was this a factory re-work program ? 3. Was the same thing done on early S77 and S66?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Thanks for the reply Mr Schweibert. Now another question on this subject: Can you put exhaust valve seat inserts in a regular S77D head? I ask, because I have a S77D head with badly receded intake and exhaust seats. I would like to save it if possible.

You want an answer like a politican would give. I don't see why not, but I have not seen your head. Have I done one Super 77 no , 770 (same valves and seats) yes. I will send you an e-mail when I get back home. J.
