Elderly uncle has 2 50"s vintage Oliver OC3 crawlers. Both ran within the past 2 years. One in good shape and mayhave been restored years ago, the other is well worn and sloppy. Looking for good home as alternative to scrap yard. Any idea"s where to find people interested in these old crawlers? Uncle Tom had a blast with them when he was able to operate them, but is now in a home and the estate must clear them out. Any suggestions? Thanks is advance!

Now we're talking! I'm located in Menomonie and I'm rebuilding an OC-3 right now. If you are looking to sell or part out the "worn and sloppy" crawler I'd be interested and hearing what you have.

Do you have any idea what the crawler is worth? I have a friend that is interested in selling a 1955 OC3 crawler that doesn't run. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

Antique American Tractor & Crawler Value Guide (Second Edition) Dean, T. & Swenson, L. 2006 lists an OC-3 in condition rating 1 as $1500. They have a 1 - 5 condition scale.

Condition rating 1 is described as restorable but on the verge of being a parts tractor. I think their $1500 value can be a bit high in some cases. Crawlers can have a lot of hidden restoration expenses. Undercarriage restoration can get expensive very quickly.

In my case, I took the rating that I wanted to achieve (rating 3 - $5000) and subtracted all of the dollars (parts, paint, & pain) that it would cost to bring it to a $5000 level 3 tractor. That's how I figured if the asking price was even close.

If I was to do it again, I'd add another 20% to my resortation caculations for the hidden costs that you don't find until you start tearing it apart.

Lastly the non-running description (that you mention) has many meanings. Non-running can mean some carb or magneto work, or non-running can mean a rod is hanging out the side of the block.

Telling us the general location of the crawlers would be a start. You can't really ship them UPS, so location is certainly a critical factor (along with condition, price, etc.).

Good points! The location is Northern Wisconsin. I don't have pictures yet - I'm running one step ahead of the guy with a cutting torch.
