Has anyone put one on a 77? Will it make that big of a difference for pulling? What model or part number do I need from what company? Thanks for any help. -Dan

Thanks for all of the advice. I'll probably look into changing it over this winter. Sounds like a quick easy winter project.

Teen, As far as pulling, if you compared an elec ignition equipped tractor with an exact idential standard and well tuned good ignition, the elec may offer slight more HP but its not gonna be any super great improvement. If you go with an elec ignition switch, to get the most bang for the buck and all the benefits it has to offer, I recommend you couple it up with a high energy high voltage coil (matched to the elec. switches capacity) and run a wider plug gap for a wider hotter higher energy spark. Use good quality plug wires of course.

It can help starting performance and perhaps reduce premature plug fouling plus gain you some degree of improved performance, and if I were pulling and it was allowed Id definitely use one to gain whatever (even if small) performance advanatge I could.

For a basic EI, you can go to the Pertonix website, access the AG catalog, and look up the part number.

Then, part number "at hand", shop around for price. This very site has the Pertronix units at fair prices for many applications.

I got one for my 1550 from Gennessee Products a year ago just because I couldn't keep points in it.I think it was around $95. It starts a lot quicker, but no difference in power. A lot of clubs won't allow electronic ignition for pulling for some reason.
