I noticed that my fan belt is not aligned with the crank pulley today. A bolt came out of the generator and its angle slipped. Generator works fine still. Belt is tight still so everything still works. I guess I am going to dissassemble it all and re/re with all bolts, and recheck belt tension. But the question is has damaged been potentially done to the bottom end? And can I keep running it until I get time as it is. I see a lot of vibration on the regulator and generator, thats how I noticed. Thanks

I actually have a similar problem on my Super 55. The generator on mine is bolted up like it should but it looks like my fan pully is closer to the engine than the crank and generator pulley. I need to fix my too as I is starting to tear up the belt. I am wondering if I can shim out my fan pulley by putting washers between the water pump and the pulley or what? Anybody got any other suggestions on how to fix this?

For yours I would check the crank pulley to make sure its still tight - should be a 1 1/8 deep well socket I think. I would assume that most likely you could only damage the belt, I would put new bolts on generator and throw on a new belt.

I have seen a tractor one time that had about a quarter in of slop in the motor pry back and forth on the crank to try to move it back to see if that is why the genorator looks closer to the motor when you push in on the clutch it pushes the crank forward nothing brings it back this may not hurt the motor but it might need new thrust bearings to fix it the 550 had enough slop that the front of the crank was hiting on a plug up at the front of the block they said it would not hurt any thing and the rebild fixed it any way it had a loader on it and that leads to clutching all the time
