According to Chris' article in HPOC and Landis Zimmermans in Oliver Heritage, the only diesel OC4s were 3 cylinders. I looked at one that was for sale a year ago and it was a 4 cylinder diesel. It had the Oliver shield brass tag on the side of the motor, looked from the original paint and lack of evidence of a cobble job to be completely original. The tracks and other things about it were so far gone that I passed on it,and the guy told me later that he took it to the crusher,so I can't prove what I'm saying. I emailed Chris about it. He said he just didn't know, anythings possible. Has anybody else ever seen a 4 cylinder diesel OC4?

There's reference in the manuals to both 3 and 4 cylinder diesels. Mine's a 3, never seen a 4. Don't think they were too common.

I always wondered why they didn't use the same engine as the super55/550, 66/Super66/660.

The 55/550 engines had enough torque to rip the trannie's and final drives on those crawlers to shreds, they came apart often enough with the original engines, [ which were also cheaper ]
