Looking for a GHH 6001 generator 12 volt

I am rebuilding a Cockshutt 35 and am looking to convert the old 6 volt over to 12 volt and keep the unit as original as possible. The original 6 Volt generator is an Auto -Lite GHD-6001. The cross over 12 Volt generator is a GHH-6001. Older Massey Harris and Case tractors used these generators..... generally the gas tractors had 6 Volt systems and the diesels had 12 Volt systems.

So Im looking for the 12 volt Autolite GHH 6001 generator and voltage regulator to make the switch if possible.

Let me know if you can point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Peter Engberg

Well, if all else fails, take your generator to one of those old mom and pop places that actually rebuild them and have it converted over. Now of course the tag on it will still say 6 volts, and the regulator will need to be 12 volts, but that"s the main part of it. Forget the big chain stores, they will be clueless when you try to explain what you want. If all the generator/starter rebuilding places have closed down in your area, (like mine) have your LOCALLY OWNED auto parts store send it off to a place that still does this. They are still available if you look hard enough.

My project 35 is missing the generator and voltage regulator altogether so I don't have a core to be rebuilt. Thanks for the tip though, I agree there a lot of good local service places that need our patronage to survive. The lowest price on common items isnt always the wisest choice.
