Ben, Thanks for posting the pictures. I didn't respond to your orginal question. I will make a guess that is a Perkins 354 engine, but remember THIS IS ONLY A GUESS ON MY PART. The problem is that Perkins didn't start building those engines until the early 1960's and the rest of the tractor was built in the early 1950's. Does the tractor have a serial number plate on it, and if so, what is the number? I have a friend that has a lot of information on those tractors, but he would need a serial number to know where to start. As to how, when or why that engine ended up in that model of tractor, who knows? I have see some Oliver expermintal tractors, and in each case, if the engine is special it will also have a different frame to hold the engine. If I remember right the front frame carries a A500 number in that series of tractors, with another letter following the A500. (something like A500C or A500F, etc.). I wish I could help you out better with your search for answers.

Thats a amazing find (well for me in Ohio it is I seen a 99 thats restored at a sale, boy that thing was mean sounding. Not really sure, but I dont think Oliver built the engines on the 99 or super 99. I think a outside company did it, well I know for sure its not close to any other oliver engine at that time. Mike

Well I hope the guy that asked me if im sure its not a GM diesel doesnt think im that retarted not to know the difference. But what i ment by never seeing another oliver like it is the injectors go in the head like a 560 farmall, on an angle and the manifolds are both on the right side of the engine. the generator is on the left side of the engine and it has a rosa master injection pump on it. i can get pics to post on here. its not an engine that some one rigged in there its deffenetly and factory engine. the bolt pattern is the same as any other oliver. The tractor was bought new in california if that means anything.

I'm sorry as I can be if you think I was calling you stupid or anything. You just never know who you're talking to on here. Some folks sound like they are experienced but when you start in to detail, you find out they don't know what a battery is or some such simple thing.A lot of first time owners.

It is a true Waukesha Not an Oliver/Waukesha. On the left side of the block above the injection pump look for a Waukesha tag and or 4 small holes where the pins would have gone in to hold the tag. Got casting numbers off the block? J.

You need to post pictures. To my knowledge, none of the Oliver Diesel engines had both manifolds on the same side of the engine.
The roosa-master pump was not used until around 1960.
You need to post pictures....

It sounds to me like you have a 1953 or 1954 Oliver 99 diesel. The Super 99 would have bull pinon brakes How many speeds forward does this tractor have? Engine will be a 4 x 4 (302 cubic inch). J.

If it's a 6 cylinder the engine is Oliver designed,Waukesha built. No,it's not a Massey. The Massey 98 was an Oliver 990 GM with different sheet metal, built by Oliver for Massey. The Massey 97 was a Minnie Mo. When you say the engine isn't like anything you've ever seen, are you sure it's not a Super 99 GM? They were a GM 2 cycle 3 cylinder Diesel.

A little historical aside to that, the reason Massey bought those tractors from Oliver and Minnie Mo was that the powers that be at Massey didn't want to build a big tractor. They had always claimed that with the Ferguson System (3 point hitch) transfering the weight of the implement to the tractor, there was no need for a larger tractor with all that iron. They finally conceded and built the Super 90,but still against the will of the old timers from Ferguson.

You might want to check the history of Massey Ferguson a little closer.

OK,guess that's what I get for repeating things that I hear. I have my foot in my mouth so often that I have athletes tongue. It's as dangerous to repeat things on here that you hear someplace else as it is to repeat things from here in the real world. I know Massey Harris had the 55 and such, but it seems like there was a lack of large tractors for just a little while after the Ferguson name went on and the Harris name came out of the middle. I'd been told (wrong I guess) that the Ferguson System and phylosophy was the reason why. So much for that.

Oliver made 99s for Massey. I actually have a picture of one. Unless yours is something different than what I am thinking of it should have been made by Oliver. What do you need for the engine?
