Would anyone know if the hydraulic pump, block mounted if that makes a difference, could blow a seal and push hydraulic oil into the oil pan causing the oil level to rise to point it's leaking out the bell housing? This appears to be what is happening since the base is full of hydraulic oil. Is there a seal I should look for on the pump or repair kit available?

Thanks guys, thats about what I figured. Phil, I think I still have your catalog sheets here. I need some other stuff too, like brakes, so I'll get an order together and give you a call. Thanks again guys!

Bret,

Your hydraulic pump shaft seal is leaking.

I have the pump seal kit on stock.

That might be the case, it is easy to get at and replace, Phil from this site probably has a seal. When I worked on mine I replaced it. Napa had it in stock fairly inexpensive.

Oldtimers refer to that as "makin' oil"- first time I heard it when I was a kid, I thought, what a great deal! Don't have to buy any more oil! Can happen through block mounted power steering or hydrualic pumps, fuel (lift) pump with bad diaphragm, or stuck float on down-draft carburetor allowing fuel to siphon in. Figure out what foreign liquid is in the oil, then go from there.
