Attempting to pull the cast hub off the axle. Any tips? Does it have to be heated?

Thank-you all. So far I've got one off. Puller stressed to max - huge sledge hammer - a little heat.

I with J on this. Also besy way to handle that heavy cast center is with it bolted to the rim, thye are very hard to handle other wise because of how much they weigh

Do you have the wheel off or on? Sometimes when we knew those wheels had not been moved in years and years we would loosen the nuts about 3 or 4 turns, put it in low gear and at idle slowly drive the tractor just farm enough it would break loose from the axle. The hub would then would be loose from the axle and easly to move. You need to be carefull!

I have had to heat some and some came off with little effort. I recently worked on a 1550. I had to heat and beat so much on one side that I ruined the u-bolts getting them out. They are expensive from Agco. Any spring shop sould be able to make new ones a lot cheaper. The other side came apart with little effort. Good Luck.
