Need Help

I was picking corn with a 2 row NI picker all day on Saturday. The tractor sat all day on Sunday. I went out on Monday, checked all the usuall things before starting the tractor used 4th gear down the lane to the road,6th gear on the road to the field, down shifted to 4th then to 3rd to start picking. I pulled up to the rows pushed the clutch in and it kept on going, pumped the clutch pedal a couple of times and it worked again for one time. The clutch pedal did really soft to push in. Now I have to put it in gear and start the tractor to move it. The clutch has approximately 400 hrs of use. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. E-mail is open

Thanks Larry

Sounds exactly like what I got now. I had the problem and spent nearly $1528.00 to replace clutch and a few odds and ends. Got the tractor back and used it about 20 hours and now have the same problem. I am beginning to hate this tractor.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but guess what?????Gotta come back out.Sounds like fingers broke if it got soft suddenly.

What brand did you put in or where did you get it? When I did my 1755,I put in the heavier style for a few bucks more.

Sounds similar to what we had happen on our 1855 a few years back on the corn chopper. It was the tube that is pressed into a cast peice, it came loose and didn't put any pressure on the throwout bearing.

The release bearing tube (#28 in parts breakdown in the service manual), that is presed into the clutch release sleeve (#33 in parts breakdown in the service manual).

That's the tube I am talking about. It's not in all tractors, but it is in our 1855 and that's what failed. We replaced the whole clutch assembly (clutch disc, preasure plate, release bearing, ground the flywheel) while the shop had the engine and over/under out, and they also replaced a few things on the back of the over/under unit.

Yup,my 1550 did it a few years back. Broke one side off the fingers that push the throw out bearing.
