I have an OC46 project in waiting. I ran it last fall after doing a valve job and everything was OK. I went out to the shed Sat to take the thing for a spin and the water level is low. Checked the oil and it is way up above the full mark. Would this engine have freezes plugs in the head like the Allis W201 engines that could have leaked. What other things should I look for? I haven't drained the oil down yet,but I won't run it till I do and find out what's going on.

Does your engine have sleeves. Early 3 cyl. didn't have them. the one i have was bored and sleeved years ago. One of the sleeves ended up with a small hairline crack not visible with the eye. just check everything.
