I am having a problem with oil somehow bypassing from hydrallic reservoir into rearend No holes in the hydrallic pan pump seal is not leaking and lots of pressure lifts ok until oil level gets lower and oil becomes hot like digging post holes a dozen or so and auger gets very slow on lift. oil tube from reservoir to is gravity so no pressure to cause a leak there at gaskets. Anybody know what is going on? Thanks for the help!!! Paul in ontario

My dad's oliver super 55 was leaking hydraulic oil into the rear differential...it had bad seals in the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump sits on top of the tranny in front and is gear driven, when the seals go bad, hydraulic oil seeps past the pump seals and into the gear box. replacing the seals is really no problem but to replace the hydraulic pump is about $995...a little pricey!

Places to leak, oil reservoir pan, inlet tube and gaskets from pump, pan gaskets and outlet adapter and gasket.I would check very carefully again looking for rust on the pan bottom. You can also make an adapter with a quick connector to screw in the oil filler hole to apply air pressure to find the leak.I remove the pump and block the the inlet and outlet with metal plates and the gaskets when i do this. You can use a pressure guage on a tee with the coupler,if it does not hold pressure spray with soapy water to find the leak.If it holds then take a look at the pump.
