Since I started accumulating parts catalogs I've gained a lot more sympathy for parts counterpeople..
The P&D catalog (no date) showed the various diesels as 12V, and also had lines (which had no years):
55,66,77,88 (Gas) 6V st 1107147 and 1107939 (this line with gen 1100029);
66 (gas) 6V st 1107065 (with gen 1100504);
66,77,88 6V (no gas/dsl ID) st 1107065 and 1107939 (with gen 1101391);
66,77,88 (gas) 12V st 1107939 (with gen 1100504).
Older Niehoff shows 48-56 66,77,88 (Gas) 6V with st 1107065 and 939 with 3 of the gen's above.
It was a Delco catalog, mostly later stuff, that had the line "51-55 66.77.88 with wauk 185...but no original starter number.
None of the above mentioned serial number differences; it sounds like BA's info is the correct numbers..with sympathy, Bud

    The 66 Standard gas tractors used two starters over the production years, both of them Delco-Remy.  Tractors through Serial Number 470 405 had Delco-Remy #1107065, later tractors had Delco-Remy #1107939.  Both starters for the gas tractors were 6 volt.  The starters are the same on the Row Crop tractors.

What year is your tractor or if you are not sure what is the serial number?

By "std" I assume you mean gas? Ignition catalogs show both 6V and 12V 66"s (unfortunately no years) with two or three different Delco numbers...believe one stated 66,77 and 88 took same starter when had Wauk engine (180 something?) Will check and advise later. Good luck.

66 standard was the non row crop (wheatland style) The book shows 6 and 12 volt because the diesel was a 12 volt. All the 66 gassers were 6.

66-77 same thing. I think 88 too probably.There's not going to be a casting # it's a Delco starter. I bought one without a core from the-co.com.
