I am looking at an older Oliver sitting in some really tall weeds. The side shields on the motor are gone. I was wondering how to tell one model from another. I looked at YT photo"s and it might be an 1850. It has a 6 cylinder diesel. Wide front end. Has a cab and two steps up. Any help would be appreciated.

I finally hooked up with the owner of the unidentified Oliver tractor. He showed me the side panels with the model numbers and gave me the owners manual. It is a 1855 Turbo Diesel. It has over/under Hydraul shift. I am not familiar with that kind of transmission. I am getting this tractor for $2,500.00. It is also equipped with a nice front end loader.

On the 1850, the exhaust is on the right side of the engine, unlike just about every other model Oliver....

I couldnt find any numbers on the lower dash between the pedals. Maybe there was an I.D. tag there at one time. Nothing now. Is there another way to I.D this tractor? Thanks, Dennis

Trying to think how to tell you how to ID a 354 Perkins. That's what the engine will be if it's an 1850 as you suspect it might be. The injector pump will be on the left side,up front, standing upright. Just below it,there will be a shaft, about 1 inch in diameter sticking out to the rear. The oil fill spout will be on the right,a neck welded in to the rear side cover. Check it out,if those are there,it's a Perkins and an 1850.

Look down on the lower dash between the clutch and brake pedals and get the serial number and ID number and post them. Somebody will look it up.
